Been on a fanfic-reading binge, just not to obsess abut our next project and GAAAH! Altough there's a surprisingly high number of well written stories - I mean good characterisation, style, pace, imagery etc. - you can erase the sex scene(s) in 99% of them without affecting the story, plot, style, PACE, chara etc. It's just stuck in without any other sense or reason than to garner readers by porn. Am so bored by porn. *sigh*

It's the same attitude with romance novels, you know? "Taming of the Shrew"-style. The only thing many people seem to understand is that loathsome kind of power struggle. Sometimes I think very few people really know what love is and, yes, it has many forms of expression and they are all valid, but respect and affection must be in there somewhere or why the fuck should one lose a second of one's life in an eternal strife?

In the Star Trek fandom? I confess I rather abominate the new film because I'm an original series (oh, and next gen) fan and I particularly loved Nichols' Uhura and Nimoy's Spock SO MUCH I can't be having with those usurpers. :P But I see you have masterlists and I'll read because it's you writing.
